Dammit, you guys. When I go to work i have to listen to that song.
In my family, we call it “The Date Rape Song.” I knew we weren’t the only close listeners.
Did you know that this song first appeared in an Esther Williams movie and the male lead was played by none other than Ricardo Montalban? Yes, I was very excited when my wife gave me an Esther Williams DVD box set for my birthday. She’s the bee’s knees.
I totally feel the same way about this song and LOL’d for real, since it plays every other freaking minute at my job, where the X-Mas music has been relentless since Black Friday. My other fav song is “Santa Baby” which, when it plays, I remind everyone it’s totally about boning Santa.
You just made me laugh so hard I woke my upstairs neighbors.
I imagine Kevin and B-Birds already know this, but when Rachelle Goguen and her husband covered the song for the Stolen Minks Christmas EP, they flipped the roles so that Rachelle was the insistent one. It’s way less creepy that way.
How is it less creepy? Date rape is date rape. Creep is creep.
It appears that the guy who wrote this went to my high school. This bodes very, very badly for my future. Don’t know how, but I feel like it does.
